Dear Members of the Locust Valley High School Community:

Congratulations to all students, staff, and the community on a fine past academic year and a summer hopefully filled with the right balance of enjoyment and relaxation. My name is Patrick DiClemente and I am fortunate to have been recently named the Principal of Locust Valley High School. The Locust Valley School District is an outstanding place to receive an education, grow and learn as a resident, and to be an educator. The community has always maintained a pride in its people, heritage, and accomplishments. I am very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for me as the high school principal and eager to be a part of the outstanding student achievement, activities, and culture among all of our schools.

With over twenty years of secondary school experiences as a teacher of English and school administrator, you will find me well-versed in the elements that coincide with student success at the high school level. I am passionate about the field of education and working with people. As the high school principal, I appreciate the opportunity that I have to support and celebrate our students, to work among a talented and dedicated staff, and to collaborate with families and community members.

Our efforts at Locust Valley High School and my focus is on providing a challenging, inviting, and supportive school experience for the students and all individuals associated with our school. We will continue to build upon the positive-spirit at school, work to recognize success, and expand learning for all of our students and staff. Students, staff, parents, and community members are the spirit of our school. Please know that my door is always open to you.

In the remaining summer vacation days, I wish all of our students and families fulfillment and enjoyment. As we draw closer to a new academic year, you will receive a welcome letter with coordinating information that will support a smooth, confident beginning to the 2018 - 2019 school year. I thank all members of the school community for welcoming me to Locust Valley.

With appreciation,
Patrick J. DiClemente

Dancing the Night Away

The high school’s first homecoming dance was a success, with 175 students dancing to the music of a DJ and getting in the spirit for a weekend of fun. The senior class organized the event as a fundraiser for the senior prom. The Class of 2019 student government members thought that having a dance would help keep the enthusiasm going for the homecoming parade and game the following day. They were right!

Senior Named National Merit Semifinalist

Locust Valley High School congratulates senior Adit Dutta for being named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Adit is recognized for achieving an exceptional score on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) as a junior when he took the exam along with 1.6 million students across the nation. Of those high school students, only approximately 16,000 were named semifinalists.

Adit will now compete for a spot as a finalist by providing proof of his high academic achievements throughout high school and by earning a score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) that is consistent with his performance on the PSAT. In February 2019, the National Merit Corporation will name the finalists who will go on to compete for the actual scholarships.

An IB Diploma candidate, Adit is also a member of the wrestling team and the AIDS Awareness Club. He plays the piano and has a talent for drawing, which he practices in his IB Art course.  Adit is considering majoring in Biology and preparing for a possible career in dentistry.

Congratulations to Adit on this elite accomplishment!
